LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Five of the league's men's golf teams were in action this week, including four who competed at the Schreiner Spring Shootout which was contested at the 7,339 yard, par 72 Comanche Trace course in Kerrville.
Trinity finished second at the 11-team event, firing rounds of 299 and 291 for a two-day total of 590 (+14). The Tigers finished 10 shots behind tournament winner Concordia (Texas). For the second consecutive tournament, Trinity was paced by freshman Daniel Nunez who finished alone in fourth after shooting 1-under 71 each day for a 142 total. He was just one stroke from the leaders of the tournament.
Rounding out the SCAC teams in the field, Dallas was just one shot behind Mary Hardin-Baylor and finished fifth (309-299--608), St. Thomas (314-307--621) was ninth and the host Schreiner did not have enough golfers score to place.
Texas Lutheran competed at the BSN Sports Dataw Invite at the Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, S.C. and finished sixth in the 15-team field. The Bulldogs were led by junior Matthew McArthur who placed fifth overall in the 88-golfer field. The overnight leader after two rounds on Monday, McArthur shot a 76 on Tuesday and finished three shots behind individual champion Brendon Lowrance of McMurry.
