LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - It was a light week in the SCAC with just two men's teams in the pool - highlighted by Southwestern traveling to Austin College on Friday for an intra-conference dual meet.

The Southwestern men defeated the Austin College, 142-81, in that head-to-head meet. 

Southwestern opened the event with a victory in the 200 medley relay, led by Carter Duncan, Alek Argueta, Massimo Gasponi, and Keith Gill. the quartet finished with a time of 1:40.44.

In the 1,000 free, the Pirates' Nathan Saeger was the lone swimmer to finish under 11 minutes at 10:50.01. His teammate Colton Creasey followed with a time of 11:09.95. 

The Pirates placed the top three in the 200 free, led by Dylan Neumann's 1:49.97, followed by Matthew Oevermann (1:53.19) and Mario Foltz (1:54.44). Oevermann was victorious in the 500 free, finishing with a time of 5:02.49. 

Southwestern also took the top three spots in the 200 IM, paced by Brock Bloomquist's 2:06.68. In the 100-yard freestyle, Anderson edged out teammate Keith Gill with a time of 48.09. The Pirates closed out the event with a victory in the 200 free relay, getting a time of 1:29.61 from the team of Todd Coachman, Henry McClure, Anderson, and Gill. 

Austin College picked up its first individual win in the 50 free when Ethan Nguyen's time of 22.24 edged out Southwestern's Sam Anderson's 22.28. Nguyen also won the 100 fly with a time of 53.47 and posted another record-setting performance in the 100 breast, breaking the program record for the second straight meet. Nguyen finished first in the event with a time of 58.51.

The 'Roos' Max Saenz added a first place finish in the 100 back, coming in with a time of 57.78, and Colton Baker gave Austin College first place points in the 3-meter diving event and Stephen Estraca added first place points in 1-meter diving. 

On the second day of a back-to-back, Southwestern dropped a 157-102 decision to NCAA Division II Oklahoma Christian. 

The Pirates won three of the head-to-head meet's 16 men's events. Todd Coachman picked up the Pirates' first victory in the sixth event, winning the 200 free by fractions of a second with a time of 1:48.57.  Southwestern placed the top two swimmers in the 200 breast, led by Sam Anderson's time of 2:12.98, followed by Alek Argueta's 2:14.21. The Pirates closed out the event with a win in the 400 free relay, finishing with a time of 3:13.89.

The 2019 swimming and diving schedule continues next week with five of the league's seven teams in action, highlighted by Centenary, McMurry and University of the Ozarks participating in the Hendrix College Relays and Classic on Friday and Saturday.
