LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Three of the league's eight teams were in action, with the trio participating at the LeTourneau Tempest Intercollegiate at Tempest Golf Club in Gladewater, Texas.
Texas Lutheran sophomore Chase Maus, who entered the final round four shots out of the lead, earned individual medalist honors with a final round score of 2-under. Maus opened the tournament with scores of 78 and 74 on Monday before rallying to win with the final-round 70.
TLU posted a team score of 311 on Tuesday (928 overall) and finished in fourth place in the team standings. The Bulldogs were just six shots out of a first place.
Centenary finished one position behind TLU in fifth as the Gents posted rounds of 314-306-323 for a three-round total of 943. Senior Brodey Warner was Centenary's top finisher as he placed third overall after shooting a final-round 76. He shot 79-72-76 – 227 for the tournament.
Schreiner was just behind Centenary in sixth place with a team score of 957. The Mountaineers were led by freshman Jake Sitterle who finished tied for eighth in the 60-player field with rounds of 80-74-76--230 (+14).
Play continues next week with six conference teams in action, including four - Dallas, Schreiner, Texas Lutheran and Trinity - at the Trinity University Alamo Classic. Johnson & Wales plays at the Marymount Revolutionary Collegiate Classic on Saturday and Sunday and Southwestern will participate at the Golfweek Fall Invitational, which runs from Saturday to Tuesday.
