LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimming and diving season is underway as four of the league's seven teams have a meet under their belts.
In an early dual involving SCAC squads, the University of the Ozarks men topped McMurry University, 105-82, Saturday, Sept. 28 at McMurry. The Eagles picked up victories in the 200 medley and 200 free relays as well as five individual wins - including double golds from Nicolas White who took first place in the 500 and 1000 free. Also picking up individual wins was Jacobus Van Zyl in the 50 free, Josh Collins in the 100 fly and Mike Walkine in the 100 breast.
McMurry picked up two first-place swims from Terrin Boehmer (100 free and 200 IM) and individual wins from Alex Satre (200 free) and Ethan Sykes (100 back).
Ozarks was back in the pool this past weekend with a home dual against Hendrix where the Eagles dropped a 105-83 decision to the Warriors. Ozarks took the 200 free relay and had two individual wins from Jacob Jones, who took home gold in both the 100 and 200 free. Nicolas White was a wininer in the 1650 free.
Colorado College took on Southwestern on Saturday in the Tigers first home dual against a conference opponent since 2016 and the Tigers earned the 157-134 victory over the defending SCAC champions. Cade Thumann (200 fly, 500 free), Walker Martin (100 and 200 free) and Casey Block (1-meter, 3-mter boards) were all double winners for CC. Topher Shepherd (1000 free), Julian Frerichs (200 back), Eric Dallesasse (100 fly) and Cole Thumann (200 IM) also picked up individual wins.
For Southwestern, the Pirates swept the relays, winning both the 200 free and 200 medley, and Alek Argueta was as double winner in the 100 and 200 breast. Connor Moland (100 back) and Drew Anderson (50 free) also earned individual wins for the Pirates.
A day earlier, Colorado College opened its season with the Big Cat Relays at Schlessman Natatorium against Colorado School of Mines and Truman State University.
The 2019 swimming and diving schedule continues next week with six of the league's seven teams in action, highlighted by a conference dual when Austin College travels to McMurry on Friday.
