LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimming & diving teams continue their march toward the conference championship meet as Southwestern University was the only squad in the pool this past week.
The Pirates participated in their final regular season meet with a home dual against UT-Permian Basin (UTPB) and dropped a 169.5 to 113.5 decision to the Falcons.
Senior Todd Coachman celebrated his final home meet with an outstanding performance by claiming two first-place finishes: in the 100 back with a time of 56.76 and the 100 free with a time of 48.11.
In other highlighted relay performances, the Pirates took first place finishes in the 200 medley relay with Carter Duncan, Alek Argueta, Keith Gill, Drew Anderson (1:37.65) and in the 800 free relay, with Dylan Neumann, Gill, Anderson and Caleb Pfiefer (7:27.94)
Matt Oevermann finished first in the 500 free with a time of 4:57.30 and posted a second-place finish in the 200 free (1:49.76).
In other freestyle events, Gill, Anderson and Pfiefer claimed the top three finishes in the 50 free with times of 21.71, 22.12 and 22.18, respectively.
Other individual winners included Connor Moland, who claimed first place in the 200 back (2:04.77) and Sam Anderson, who finished first in the 200 IM (1:59.60).
Two more SCAC men's swimming and diving squads have meets remaining prior to the conference championships meet (Feb. 12-15). Trinity travels across the street to compete against University of the Incarnate Word in a dual on Friday and University of the Ozarks hosts Williams Baptist in a home dual on Saturday.
