LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s swimming & diving returned to action last week following a week off from competition as Austin College, Centenary and McMurry all competed at the Hendrix Invitational in Conway, Arkansas at the Bob Courtway Pool.
Austin College was the top finishing SCAC school coming in third with 446 total points, followed by Centenary in fourth (273) and McMurry finished fifth out of eight teams with 247 points. Barton Community College won the meet with a total of 1,005 points.
The ‘Roos were led with freshman Ethan Nguyen and David Mowles each setting AC program records in the pool and Colton Baker winning both boards in the diving well. Nguyen broke program records in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke to finish fourth and third respectively with times of 57.45 and 2:08.69. His final individual program record on the day came in the 100 IM, finishing second in a time of 52.52. Mowles’ program record came in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing second hitting the wall in 1:57.08. Baker won the 1-meter board with a score of 155.45 and the 3-meter board with a mark of 165.60.
The Gents were led by freshman Chris Reese’s second-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Reese clocked in at 18:39.22.
Senior Dany Baki led the War Hawks posting two top-10 finishes including the highest place at the meet, finishing fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle. Baki hit the wall in the grueling distance race in 19:23.18 and turned in a 10th-place result in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:22.16.
SCAC men’s swimming & diving will be idle next week before closing out the holiday schedule with Trinity competing in the Holiday Invitational on December 16th-17th and Southwestern taking on Carthage in a dual meet on December 18th.
