LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s tennis action continued last week as five teams were in action, highlighted by Trinity posting a perfect 3-0 record, picking up a pair of wins against nationally ranked programs.
Trinity improved to 7-6 on the season after earning victories last week over No. 16 Pomona Pitzer (6-3), No. 39 Cal Lutheran (9-0) and Concordia (9-0). The Tigers now have three wins over nationally ranked programs this spring. Senior Jordan Pitts and junior Cameron Krimbill teamed up to post a perfect 3-0 record in doubles to lead the way for the Tigers, including being the first duo off the court against No. 16 Pomona Pitzer. Individually, sophomore Christian Settles was outstanding posting a perfect 3-0 mark in singles at three different positions, winning at the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 lines.
St. Thomas split a pair of matches in Abilene last Saturday, falling to Hardin-Simmons but clipping McMurry, 6-3. In the win over the War Hawks, freshman Jace Ware was a double winner, opening with an 8-4 win at the No. 2 doubles line before earning a come from behind 3-6, 7-5, 10-6, victory at the No. 5 singles spot.
Schreiner defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor, 6-3, last Saturday before falling to No. 39 Cal Lutheran on Sunday. In the win over the Crusaders, Louis Cabreja, Matthew Jimenez, Carson Kirk and Major Uekert we all double winners as the Mountaineers took two of the opening three doubles matches and then secured the win with victories at No. 1, No. 2, No 3 and No. 5 singles.
Texas Lutheran dropped a pair of matches last Friday night, falling to Cal Lutheran and Concordia, while Austin College fell in its lone match of the week, 5-4, to LeTourneau on Saturday.
SCAC men’s tennis continues next week with six matches scheduled, highlighted by Texas Lutheran traveling to take on Trinity on Friday.
