LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball continued with the last full week of non-conference matchups before conference play begins on Friday.
Texas Lutheran (8-4) posted the only undefeated mark of the week with a pair of wins over New Jersey City, 14-1, on Saturday and, 6-0, on Sunday. Tyler Cauley hit a three-run homerun to led TLU to victory on Saturday as the senior All-American drove in five and went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Joe Burch led the Bulldogs on Sunday, tossing shutout innings while striking out six.
Austin College (7-2) went 3-1 this week with a victory over LeTourneau (12-7) on Tuesday and a pair of wins over Blackburn (7-6, 4-3) on Sunday. Sergio De Paoli, Josh Boring, and Zack Mahoney each picked up a pair of hits in the 'Roos game one victory Sunday. In game two, James Adams surrendered three runs on five hit in 7.0 innings to pick up the win while Mahoney, Jake Webster, and Justin Alphonse produced two hits each.
St. Thomas (7-11) split a four-game series against Doane, earning a 9-4 win on Friday and an 8-7 victory on Saturday. On Friday, the Celts scored nine unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pick up the victory. Edward Gutierrez collected two hits, while Noah Martinez and Jason Brown each had two RBIs.
Southwestern (5-6) went 1-2 this week in a three-game series with Middlebury with the Pirates picking up their lone win on Saturday by a 3-2 margin. Austin Smith earned the victory, tossing five no-hit innings while striking out 10, walking three, and hitting a batter.
Dallas (8-7) had a 1-3 week, earning a 5-4 win over East Texas Baptist on Tuesday. In the victory, Graeme Williams led the Crusaders with three hits in four at bats with two RBIs.
Schreiner (9-7-1) dropped two games to DeSales on Sunday, its only competition of the week.
SCAC baseball continues this week, highlighted by the first four conference matchups of the season with No. 4 Trinity traveling to Centenary, Southwestern playing at Austin College, St. Thomas meeting Texas Lutheran and Schreiner taking on Dallas.
