LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer continued last week, highlighted by Trinity securing its spot in the SCAC Tournament with two weeks remaining in the regular season following a pair of conference road victories over the weekend.

Trinity (11-2, 5-0) currently stands alone at the top of the table with 15 points after defeating Southwestern, 2-1, on Friday and defeating Texas Lutheran, 5-0, on Sunday. The Tigers, who lead the SCAC with 42 goals on the season, saw seven different athletes score over the weekend with sophomore Kaity Ward and senior Kristen Canepa getting credited for the game-winners. Trinity has now posted 10 or more wins in every single season in the SCAC era dating back to 1991.

Dallas (7-4-1, 4-0) has strung together four-straight victories, the longest such streak since the 2014 season, and remains one of just two undefeated teams in league play after defeating Johnson & Wales, 2-0, last Friday. The Crusaders have yet to concede a goal in league play and have posted four shutouts as senior Olivia Severson was credited with two saves in the win. Freshman Alyssa Mencacci scored her seventh goal in the last 10 games and was credited with the game-winner for the fourth time this season.

Centenary (11-1, 3-1) defeated St. Thomas (4-6-1, 1-3), 2-1, last Friday in the only match of the week for both teams. Senior Migui Boldrin scored her SCAC leading 12th goal of the year and freshman Avery Gilbert got the game-winner in the 65th minute off an assist from Nicaragua National team player, senior Kyra Montes.

Southwestern (11-4, 3-2) bounced back from its tough loss to Trinity on Friday to defeat Schreiner (5-9-2, 1-4), 2-0, at home on Sunday. It was the second shutout in the last four games for the Pirates and the eighth of the season, pushing the total to 18 over the last two seasons. Sophomore forward Whitney Whitehill scored her second goal of the season and was credited with the game-winner against the Mountaineers.

Texas Lutheran (7-6-1, 2-3) split SCAC contests last week at home including a thrilling 3-2 double overtime victory against Schreiner on Friday afternoon. Trailing 2-0 at the half thanks to a pair of Mountaineer goals from Dani Loeblein, the Bulldogs scored twice in less than two minutes with the second goal coming at the 61-minute mark to eventually force overtime. In the second extra frame, freshman Anna Bourbonnais scored the golden goal, the first goal of her career, in the 110th minute.

Johnson & Wales (4-11, 2-4) has now won two of its last four contests after earning its second SCAC victory of the season by defeating Austin College on the road, 4-2, on Sunday. Senior Natasha Martin led the way for the Wildcats with four points on a goal and two assists.

Austin College snapped its 11-game skid last Thursday with a non-conference victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God, 2-1. Trailing at the half, the ‘Roos scored twice in the second with freshman Shelby Smith scoring her first career goal to lift Austin College to victory.

The SCAC women’s soccer season continues this week, with five matches scheduled Friday and four on Sunday, highlighted by Centenary traveling to Dallas and Texas Lutheran hosting Southwestern.
