LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
The conference portion of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer schedule got underway last week as Dallas, Centenary, Trinity and St. Thomas all remained unbeaten in league play following the opening weekend of fixtures.

Dallas (5-4-1, 2-0) is perfect through its opening two league contests for the first time since 2013 and currently sits alone atop the SCAC standings after securing six points last weekend with wins over Southwestern, 1-0, on Friday and Texas Lutheran, 2-0, on Sunday. It marks the first time since 2014 Dallas has beaten both Southwestern and TLU in the same season. Freshman Alyssa Mencacci continued her outstanding rookie campaign, scoring the lone goal against the Pirates and assisting on an insurance goal against the Bulldogs to finish the weekend with three points. Senior Olivia Severson combined to make nine saves in two games as the Crusaders have now posted four shutouts on the year.

Centenary (9-0, 1-0) extended its win streak to nine and continued its best start in school history, defeating Johnson & Wales (2-9, 0-2) in overtime, 1-0, last Friday in the Ladies lone contest of the week. Freshman Celeste Muniz broke through in the 104th minute to score her first career goal and lift Centenary to victory. Centenary is now a perfect 2-0 in games that have gone to overtime and 5-0 in games decided by a single goal.

Trinity (7-2, 1-0) won its 11th-straight SCAC opener, a streak that dates back to 2009, after knocking off Schreiner (4-6-2, 0-1), 4-0, at home on Friday. Sophomore Madison Horner registered her second multi goal game of the season, scoring twice, including the game-winner to lead the Tigers. Offensively, Trinity has scored 19 goals in its last five games and has defensively posted four shutouts in the same stretch.

Southwestern (9-3, 1-1) rebounded from its opening SCAC loss to Dallas to shutout Austin College (2-8-1, 0-2), 5-0, on Sunday. Sophomore Samiah Varnell led the Pirates with a goal and an assist as Southwestern found the back of the net five times for the second time in the last four games. Senior Mary Cardone collected two saves to post her sixth clean sheet of the season.
