Trinity’s Kaffen Sisters Win Regional Doubles Title

ABILENE, Texas -
 Trinity University duo Zoe Kaffen and Mary Kaffen captured the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Southwest Region Women's "A" Doubles Championship Sunday for the second year in a row.

The second-seeded Kaffen sisters defeated top seeds Kathy Joseph and Samantha Wong of the University of Texas at Dallas, 6-4, 6-2, in the final played at McMurry (Texas) University. They became the first Trinity team to win back-to-back Regional Doubles titles in four years.

The Kaffens earned another trip to the ITA Cup to be held next month at Rome, Georgia.

Earlier in the day on Sunday, the fifth-seeded Zoe Kaffen came up short, 4-6, 4-6, in the "A" Singles semifinals to #7 Nina Mitrofanova of Southwestern, who went on to win the title.
