SCAC Men's Golf Spring Recap - Week Two

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Two teams continued their spring seasons this week as Schreiner and St. Thomas both played at the San Antonio Shootout which was contested at the TPC course in San Antonio.

Schreiner, which served as host of the event, finished with a three-day total of 979 (325-319-335), good enough for an 11th-place finish at the 16-team event. St. Thomas finished nine strokes back of Schreiner after rounds of 328-310 and 350 and in a tie for 13th place.

Wayland Baptist led from start to finish and finished 36 strokes clear of second-place Texas Wesleyan (893 to 929).

Freshman Jake Sitterle led the way for Schreiner, finishing at +19 after rounds of 76, 77 and 82. He was in a tie for 13th place individually before falling back into a tie for 19th. Sophomore Jonathon Miller was the top finisher for St. Thomas with a three-day total of 239 (82-72-85) that left him at +23 and tied for 27th place in the 85-player field.

The biggest tournament of the spring for the majority of the conference takes place this Monday and Tuesday, March 2 and 3, as seven of the league's eight teams will tee it up at the SCAC Spring Preview at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas - site of the 2020 conference championship tournament.
