'Roos Split with Southwestern and Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team split its two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Saturday, falling to Southwestern 3-0 before bouncing back with a 3-0 win over Schreiner. The 'Roos are now 9-12 overall and 4-3 in SCAC competition.

In the first match of the day, the Pirates took the three sets 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 to sweep the 'Roos. Shelbi Cook had eight kills to lead Austin College, and Christine Royalty added six. Brooklyn Talley had 12 assists and nine digs, while Allison Pierce added 10 assists and Mari Prazak paced the 'Roos with 18 digs. 

The 'Roos swept the Mountaineers in the second match of the day, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-19 to pick up their fourth SCAC victory of the season. The 'Roos hit .224 as a team, with Cook again leading the way with 13 kills. Hannah Arbaugh had nine kills and 15 digs, and Caitlin Mahoney added eight kills. Talley had 20 assists and seven digs, and Pierce had 17 assists and nine digs. Prazak once again led the 'Roos defensively with 18 digs in the victory.

Austin College closes out the weekend with matches against Colorado College and Centenary on Sunday.
