LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
Men’s soccer action continued last week in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with eleven games on the schedule, highlighted by a handful of designated non-conference fixtures among SCAC squads.

Southwestern (3-1-1) has now won three-straight following a 2-1 overtime victory against Texas Lutheran (3-2) at home last Friday. In a contest that saw Southwestern post its highest shot total to date this season with 16, sophomore Seth Holzmann scored his first goal of the year in the 94th minute to deliver the OT victory for the Pirates.

Colorado College (4-2) returned home after a pair of road losses last week to pick up back-to-back home victories over weekend, defeating Centenary on Friday and St. Thomas on Sunday. Junior Will Mallory led the Tigers with four points on one goal and two assists. In the win over the Gents, CC scored five goals, the most since the Tigers produced six in a win over Schreiner in the 2015 SCAC Tournament. On Sunday, senior goalkeeper Keller Mochel posted two saves to secure his second shutout of the year.

Austin College (3-2-1) is unbeaten in four-straight after defeating a pair of former SCAC foes in Hendrix and Rhodes. Against the Warriors on Friday, freshman Cesar Escobar scored the game-winner, breaking a 2-2 tie in the 86th minute after the ‘Roos saw a 2-0 lead disappear. Escobar added an assist on Sunday’s 2-0 victory against the Lynx that saw Juan Rodriguez make three saves in his second shutout of the year.

St. Thomas (2-3) split matches last week, defeating Johnson & Wales, 3-1, on Friday before falling to CC on Sunday. In the win, senior defender Carlos Marquez scored twice to lead the Celts to victory.

Johnson & Wales (1-4-1) bounced back from the opening weekend loss on Friday to defeat Centenary, 3-1, on Sunday to secure its first win of the year. Freshman Cody Zazueta scored twice in the win to lead the Wildcats.

Trinity (1-2-2) tied Christopher Newport, 1-1, in the Tigers only action of the week. Andrea Codispoti converted on a penalty kick in the 84th minute to tie the game and secure a result as the Tiger’s played two men down after being sent off for red cards.

Schreiner (1-4-1) was shutout twice in two non-conference losses last week and Centenary (1-2) opened its season with a 1-0 victory over LeTourneau last Wednesday thanks to a goal off the foot of freshman Andres Bautista and 10 saves from goalie Sami Borchalli.

SCAC Men’s Soccer continues this week with a handful of designated non-conference conference fixtures with four games scheduled for both Friday and Sunday.
