COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Southwestern University Pirates men's soccer team lost to the Colorado College Tigers, surrendering the long goal of the match at the 71:02 mark. 

Working shortly after a throw-in set piece, Colorado College's Samson Heyer found Will Mallory at the front of the net, sending the ball through low and center for the game-winner. 

Southwestern fired off four shots and two corner kicks over the final 19 minutes but were unable to find the back of the net. 

Both teams were evenly matched throughout with each taking 15 shots and Southwestern earning a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Pirates did have several opportunities called back, getting called offsides six times. 

Midfielder Fernando Garduno-Jaramilo led the Pirates in opportunities with six shots, including one on goal. Zain Kiblawi, Seth Holzmann, and Richard Maybury each produced two shots with both of Maybury's shots on goal. 

Goalkeeper Sam Laude had four saves with the one goal allowed. His Colorado College counterpart, Keleher Felton, had four saves. 

With the loss, the Pirates drop to 7-3-2 on the season, including 1-1-1 in conference and 2-2 on the road. Southwestern will remain in Colorado to face Johnson & Wales University (Denver) on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The Pirate defeated JWU 2-0 in the teams' first meeting of the season.
