TLU Men's Soccer survives in 2OT with 4-3 victory over Johnson & Wales - Denver

DENVER -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs survived in double overtime Friday afternoon with a 4-3 win in double overtime that ended with a JWU own goal.
 
TLU won its fourth consecutive match and improved to 9-3 overall and to 3-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
 
JWU-Denver fell to 1-10-1 overall and to 0-3 in the SCAC.
 
TLU held a 3-1 lead late in the match after Marco Roman's second goal of the day. Roman scored in the 57th minute with an assist from Jared Esparza.
 
The Wildcats forced overtime with goals in the 80th and 87th minutes. A.J. Watters and Coby Zazueta found the back of the net for the Wildcats in the closing minutes.
 
The match ended in the second overtime, in the 101st overall minute, on the own goal.
 
Roman started the match scoring in the 14th minute with an assist from Cameron Townes. The two goals Friday for Roman, a freshman, were the second and third of his collegiate career at TLU.
 
Luis Green scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season with a shot in the 20th minute, also with an assist from Cameron Townes.
 
After Emad Bashir-Mohammed brought JWU-Denver with a goal, Roman gave TLU the two-goal lead with 34 minutes to play.
 
TLU out-shot the Wildcats 18-12 and led in shots on goal 10-7.
 
The Bulldogs continues SCAC action in Colorado with a noon MDT kickoff Sunday in Colorado Springs against Colorado College.
