Tigers Climb Into Tie for First in SCAC

Colorado College climbed into a tie for first place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 5-1 come-from-behind victory over Texas Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon at Stewart Field.

The Tigers, who improved to 8-5-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the conference, are level with Texas Lutheran and St. Thomas atop the SCAC table with nine points.

With the wind at their backs in the first half, CC exploded for three goals in a span in an 11-minute span to take control of the game.

The Tigers leveled the score in the 20th minute when Kiran Singh got on the end of Hayden Cogswell's cross from the lower left side and put a low shot inside the far post.

A little more than three minutes later, Colorado College took a 2-1 lead when Griffin Meyer redirected a bending cross from Miles Montgomery from eight yards out in front of the right post.

Samson Heyer made the score 3-1 in the 31st minute when he chested in a shot by Rory Eastland-Fruit off a corner kick. Sam Bermingham got on the end of Will Mallory's out-swinging corner, and his flick went to Eastland-Fruit who directed a shot toward the right post.

Playing into the wind in the second half, the Tigers struck for the fourth time when Meyer sent a low shot from the right side of the box inside the far post after collecting a long crossing pass from Singh.

Skyler Stark-Ragsdale closed out the scoring in the 74th minute with a header from in front of the right post off a cross from Montgomery.

CC's five goals matches its season high first set a month ago during the 5-4 victory over Centenary College.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the second minute when Marco Roman ran down a ball on the left side of the box and slotted a crossing shot into the right side of the net.

Palguta's Perspective
"We are really proud of our two performances this weekend," head coach Scott Palguta said. "The guys played extremely well on both sides of the ball and played confident, intelligent soccer.

"It's always a pleasure to see so many players contribute to the victories, and I thought our bench was outstanding in both games.  We have made a lot of progress as a team over the past two weeks and hope to really hit our stride as we enter the final third of the regular season."

Colorado College Standouts
The CC defense allowed only two shots on goal.
Keleher Felton made one save for the Tigers.

Texas Lutheran Standouts
Luis Green had the assist on TLU's goal.

Next for the Tigers
Colorado College plays its final road games of the regular season next weekend with games at Austin College and the University of Dallas on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
