
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Celts of the University of St. Thomas came close to stunning one of the top teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference before ultimately falling 2-1 at Centenary on Friday.
Avery Gilbert's goal in the 65th minute proved to be the difference as Centenary (11-1) improved to 3-1 in SCAC play. The Celts (4-6-1) fell to 1-3 in conference play.
Katarina Maksimov (SR/Richmond, Texas) tied the match for the Celts in the 32nd minute, scoring her seventh goal of the season. Olivia Futch (SO/Katy, Texas) made five saves in goal for St. Thomas.
The Celts return to action next Friday when they visit Austin College. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
