Texas Lutheran completes two-game sweep of New Jersey City

SEGUIN, Texas -- Sophomore right-hander Joe Burch tossed shutout innings and struck out six to lead the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 6-0 victory Sunday night against New Jersey City.
 
TLU took both games in the short series against New Jersey City. The Bulldogs won 14-1 on Saturday night.
 
The Bulldogs improved to 8-4 overall. The Gothic Knights fell to 0-6.
 
Burch improved to 2-1 with the pitching win. He scattered three hits and did not walk a batter.
 
Chase Cutler and Zach Perry finished out the Bulldogs' shutout. Cutler pitched two innings and allowed one hit. He struck out one. Perry allowed one hit.
 
Bulldog center fielder Cullen Motsinger collected three hits, scored two runs and stole two bases.
 
Second baseman Austin Colon and designated hitter Cole Irby each had two hits. Colon drove in a pair.
 
Catcher Spencer Brandt also drove in two runs. Tyler Cauley scored a pair of runs.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. non-conference home game against DeSales (Pa.).
