SHERMAN, Texas – McMurry University Swimming was back in the pool Saturday, competing in the Austin College Invitational. The McM women placed seventh with 106 points while the men finished sixth, also with 106 points.
Freshman Molly Herrera picked up the first top five finish of the night for McM, posting a fourth place mark in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 12:07.03. Herrera had a top-five in the 500-yard freestyle, as well, in 5:52.28.
Senior Jessica Gryder had a strong showing in the 50-yard freestyle, taking fifth with a time of 28.29 seconds. The 100-yard freestyle saw Cassie Borgfield swim a season best 1:06.68 with freshman Quolon Tinner posting a personal best 1:18.98.
Tinner also had a personal best in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:26.98.
Another personal best was set in the 200-yard backstroke, as sophomore Kaitlynn Cozma finished 13th in 2:44.78.
For the McM men, freshman Terrin Boehmer continued his strong season with a ninth place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. He completed the event in 23.10 seconds. Boehmer had his best finish of the afternoon in the 200-yard backstroke, as he placed third in 2:10.40.
In the 200-yard freestyle, sophomore Alec Satre posted a season best time of 1:55.51 in an 11th place finish. In the 100-yard butterfly, freshman Tristin Lopez swam a personal best 1:28.98.
McMurry will have its final tune up before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships January 17-19 with the Colorado College Invitational.
