CONWAY, Ark. – The McMurry University swim teams traveled to Hendrix College for the 4th Annual Hendrix Invite Friday and Saturday. The McM women placed sixth out of eight teams with 179.5 points, while the McM men took fifth with 247 points.
The men started Friday with a sixth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Terrin Boehmer, Myles Pickens, Ethan Sykes and Alec Satre finished with a time of 1:33.08. in the 50-yard freestyle, Satre placed 14th in 23.29 seconds.
Satre also had a strong performance in the 500-yard freestyle, placing eighth in a time of 5:15.13. Senior Dany Baki posted a top-10 finish in the same event, coming in with a time of 5:22.16. Baki was fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:23.18.
In the women's 100-yard backstroke, freshman Madelaine Smith claimed a top-10 result with a ninth place finish in a time of 1:07.59. Smith also had a 12th place showing in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:10.35.
For the men in the same event, Boehmer placed eighth in 58.62 seconds. Right behind Boehmer was Sykes, who took ninth in 59.03. Boehmer had yet another top 10 in the 100-yard freestyle, taking 10th in 50.18 seconds.
Freshman Molly Herrera placed 15th in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 2:15.14. Herrera had a strong showing the in 1650-yard free style, placing fifth in 20:32.69.
In the women's 100-yard freestyle, senior Jessica Gryder tied for 12th with a time of 1:03.02. Gryder also had finishes of 17th in the 50-yard freestyle and 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The War Hawks are off until after New Year's when they will welcome Simpson College to the Phillips Family Center for a dual January 9.
