Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Athletic Communications

Black’s Double-Double Not Enough at Schreiner

CooXooEii Black posted his sixth double-double of the season and the 22nd of his career, but a nine-minute scoring draught proved costly as the Colorado College men's basketball team dropped an 81-63 result at Schreiner University on Friday night.

Black finished with 20 points to reach the 20-point mark for the eighth time this season as well as the seventh time in the last eight games. He also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and led the Tigers with five assists.

CC appeared to be on the verge of posting back-to-back road victories for the first time this season when it built a 56-48 lead with 12:14 to play.

After the Mountaineers took their first lead of the game at 48-45, the Tigers tied the score on Black's old-fashioned three-point play. Charlie Rounaghi buried back-to-back three-pointers to give Colorado College a six-point lead and Black scored on a layup to put the finishing touch on an 11-0 run.

From that point on, however, Schreiner outscored the Tigers 33-7 to secure the victory.

Jack McRoskey matched his season-high of 11 points, scoring nine in the first half when CC led by as many as 11 points.

The Tigers were up 21-10 after Black knocked down a jumper 8:37 into the game, and they kept their lead near double-digits until the Mountaineers scored eight in a row to pull to within 32-30 on a layup by Andrew Sparks with 4:19 remaining before halftime.

Schreiner was within five points after Paul Wells scored with 19 seconds to play, however Nabeel Elabdeia dialed long distance as time expired to give Colorado College a 41-33 lead after 20 minutes.

The Mountaineers hit 10 of 26 three-pointers, while CC finished 7-for-21.

The teams complete the season series on Friday, Feb. 14, at Reid Arena.
