seed after going 3-1 during the final weekend of conference play.
The Tigers improved to 21-8 on the season and 8-2 in conference
play to tie with Trinity University for first place. CC began the
week in non-conference action falling to Division II Colorado
Christian University, 3-1. The Tigers suffered its second loss of
the week to Austin College, but rallied back to earn wins over
Centenary College, No. 22 Southwestern University and the
University of Dallas. Senior duo Laura Goldsmith and Kate Squires
led the team offensively during the week as Goldsmith tallied a
team-high 57 kills and Squires registered a team-best 153 assists
over five matches. Sophomore Kristen Liberty led the team

Division II University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for its Dig

Dallas (17-15, 2-8 SCAC) went 0-4 on the week in SCAC
competition On Saturday in San Antonio, the Crusaders were dealt a
3-0 defeat by host Trinity University before falling 3-2 to Austin
College. Dallas was swept on Sunday by Colorado College and
Southwestern University, finishing as the No. 5 seed in the 2012
SCAC Volleyball Championship. Coach Howard's bunch heads to
Bloomington, Ill., this week for four matches at Illinois Wesleyan
University. The team will battle Carthage College and Illinois
Wesleyan (Friday), before taking on Webster University and Anderson
University (Saturday).
Southwestern went 2-2 in SCAC conference action over the
weekend to move to 19-9 on the season and 7-3 in the SCAC. Friday
night's matches were a tale of two different teams as SU's offense
was unstoppable against Centenary College. The Pirates hit .347
while holding the Ladies to an unbelievable -.022. The second match
of the day was a much different story, however, as the Pirates
weren't able to get anything going against Trinity. Southwestern
never hit over .100 in any of the three sets as they fell 25-16,
25-19, 25-20. SU had a quick turnaround as they faced Colorado
College to kick off day two. Southwestern started out strong to win
game one 25-19, but were edged out in the second set marathon
31-29. It was all Colorado after that as they closed out the match
25-18, 25-15. In their final match of the day, SU played well to
close out regular season conference action, defeating UD 25-20,
25-17, 25-18. Southwestern closes out regular season action at
their annual Halloween Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The
Pirates face Out Lady of the Lake, Hardin-Simmons, St. Thomas (TX)
and Susquehanna during the Invitational.
Trinity locked up the #2 seed in the SCAC
Tournament by sweeping all four matches at the SCAC Divisional over
the weekend. The Tigers hosted the SCAC Divisional on Saturday and
Sunday, sweeping the University of Dallas and 22nd-ranked
Southwestern on the opening day. On Sunday, Trinity downed
Centenary 3-0 to start the final day, then held off a rally from
Austin College to earn a 3-2 win in the weekend finale. The wins
put Trinity in a tie with Colorado College for the top record in
the SCAC this season, but Trinity falls to the #2 seed due to
tiebreakers. Trinity is 15-13 overall this season, including 8-2 in
SCAC play. After starting the season 0-8, the Tigers have gone 15-5
heading into the final week of the regular season. Trinity will
host Concordia (Texas) University on Wednesday, finishing off the
regular season home schedule. This weekend, the Tigers will
take on Hardin-Simmons, St. Thomas, UT-Dallas, and Mary
Hardin-Baylor at the Southwestern Invitational to finish the
regular season.
