Trinity leads three SCAC schools ranked in 2012-2013 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup winter standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Currently in 23rd place, Trinity University leads three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) institutions ranked in the prestigious 2012-2013 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup winter standings. Complete NACDA Release

Trinity totaled 110 points in the winter standings on the strength of its three NCAA appearances this winter. The Tigers placed 33rd in both men's & women's basketball and finished 15th in women's swimming & diving.

Trinity tallied 245.50 points in the fall and currently sits in 23rd place with 355.50 points through the winter season.

Colorado College scored 35.5 points for a 37th place finish in men's swimming & diving and and is in 67th place among the more than 300 schools ranked. The Tigers amassed 133 points in the fall and have a total score of 168.50 points.

Southwestern University is 234th with 25 points from its 33rd place finish in women's volleyball. The Pirates did not score points in the winter standings.

Williams (Mass.) College leads all of Division III with 785.75 points. Middlebury (Vt.) College is second with 665.75 points, Emory (Ga.) University is third with 635.75 points followed by Johns (Md.) Hopkins University in fourth with 564.50 points and MIT in fifth with 549.75 points.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men's.

To date all nine of the winter NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women’s indoor track and field – WI Oshkosh; men’s indoor track and field – WI La Crosse; women’s basketball – DePauw; women’s ice hockey – Elmira; men’s ice hockey – WI Eau Claire; women’s swimming and diving – Emory; men’s swimming and diving – Kenyon; men’s wrestling – Wartburg; men’s basketball – Amherst.
