LEXINGTON, Ky. - Four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball teams are ranked in the 2012 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason poll.
Defending SCAC champion Colorado College headlined the SCAC's selections as the Tigers enter the 2012 season ranked 14th in the nation. Colorado College finished last season with a 33-7 record.
Southwestern University, which finished 30-4 last season, will begin the season ranked in a tie for 19th with Concordia (Minn.). The Pirates finished in third place at the 2011 SCAC championship tournament.
Last year's SCAC runners-up, the Trinity University Tigers enter the 2012 campaign ranked 24th after finishing last year with a 22-16 record.
Finally, Austin College begins the season receiving votes and did not crack the top-25. However, the Kangaroos are just outside the top-30 in the preseason rankings checking in at 34th.
Christopher Newport University took the top spot in the first poll of the season as the Captains enter the season fresh off its 38-5 season and second place showing at last year's NCAA tournament.
