Southwestern Women's Golf Tied for Fifth After First Round of NCAA Championship

DESTIN, Fla. - The Southwestern University women's golf team is tied for fifth after the first round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship after the Pirates carded a +33 team score to open the tournament. Official Site | Results 

The Pirates were led by senior Kelsey Coburn who turned in a team best 76 (+4), slightly better than teammate Bernice Leonard's 78 (+6). Kelsey Coburn's +4 is good for a tie for ninth with three other players and is just four shots off the lead of Texas-Tyler's Laura Lindsey.

Also scoring for Southwestern on day one was Lauren Boone (83, +11) and Karissa Speck (84, +12). Keeley Coburn's 86 was not counted.

Mary Hardin-Baylor holds the team lead after the first round. The Cru posted a day one total of +18 and lead Texas-Tyler by three shots. Rounding out the top five are Methodist (+30), George Fox (+31) and former SCAC member DePauw, who is tied with Southwestern at +33.
