INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Trinity University, the
2012 SCAC women's tennis champions, will represent the league in
the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.

Trinity earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA championship field via the program's 17th SCAC title. The conference championship marked the Tigers' second straight SCAC championship.
Trinity will open up the NCAA playoffs with a first round contest against Agnes Scott (12-5) on May 10. The winner of that match will face host Emory (13-4) in the second round. Other matchups in Trinity's bracket include Washington & Lee (18-7) vs. Methodist (20-2). The Washington & Lee/Methodist winner will take on Sewanee (18-5). The remaining two teams will play for a spot in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday, May 12.
The championships provide for a 50-team tournament. Automatic qualification (AQ) is granted to 38 conference champions, which form “Pool A.” Three teams are selected from true independents and schools from conferences that do not have an automatic bid for their champions (Pool B). The remaining nine teams are selected from those teams in conferences with automatic bids that did not win their conference’s AQ and the remaining Pool B institutions (Pool C). The teams are geographically paired, whenever possible.
The teams will play a single-elimination tournament with the first, second and third rounds played at regional sites, May 10-12. Kalamazoo College will host the team championships finals, which will be held May 20-22 at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Student-athletes selected to the individual championships will be announced Wednesday, May 8.
INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Committee announced 19 teams and six individuals that will participate in the 2012 Division III Women’s Golf Championships.
Eleven conferences were given automatic qualification and the remaining eight teams were selected on an at-large basis from conferences and the remaining independent schools. Six individuals, not from selected teams, also were selected for the championships.
The championships consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. The tournament will be contested across 72 holes of play during four days of competition. In the team competition, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team’s total score.

The championships will be conducted May 8-11 at Zollner Golf
Course in Angola, Ind., with Trine serving as host.
In 2011, Methodist won its 14th consecutive and 24th overall Division III Women’s Golf Championships with a combined score of 966 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Monarchs have won the championship in 24 of the tournament’s 26 years. Runner-up honors went to Gustavus Adolphus (978), and Illinois Wesleyan finished third with a score of 991.
