LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) today announced its fifth annual winter All-Sportsmanship teams. A total of 22 student-athletes were selected to the 2012-13 squad in the sports of men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s swimming & diving and women’s swimming & diving.
The SCAC places a special emphasis on sportsmanship each year, but this year, the conference went a step further. Prior to the 2012-13 academic year, the league developed and introduced a new sportsmanship-themed campaign, “Cheer Hard, Play Harder, Respect Everyone,” and created PSAs and videos that were distributed throughout the conference.
These pieces have been played during conference-produced video-streamed championship activities throughout the 2012-13 academic year and even promoted nationally through the NCAA Division III Twitter account and Facebook page.
Each head coach was asked to elect one member from his or her
team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.
