Southwestern's Raleigh Notches 200th Career Victory

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern University head men's basketball coach Bill Raleigh earned his 200th career victory with a 68-61 win over Howard Payne on Dec. 18th. Box Score

Raleigh entered the 2012-13 season with 196 wins and became just the second active Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball coach to tally at least 200 career wins, joining Trinity University's Pat Cunningham in the exclusive club.

Raleigh is in his 14th season at Southwestern where he has guided the Pirates to a 178-172 record. He spent the prior three years as head coach at fellow SCAC member the University of Dallas where he led the Crusaders to a 23-51 record.

An accomplished coach, Raleigh has tallied six seasons with a winning percentage of at least .500 while guiding Southwestern to the SCAC postseason tournament seven times (2003-2007, 2009-2010). Raleigh led the Pirates to the SCAC championship game in 2009. He was named the SCAC Coach of the Year in 2002-03 and 2004-05.

Raleigh's 2004-05 Pirate team finished the year with a 20-7 record and ranks as the best record the program has produced since Southwestern joined the SCAC prior to the 1994-95 season.

Currently with 201 career wins, Raleigh needs just three more wins to move past former Millsaps College coach John Stroud (203 wins) for eighth-most career wins in the SCAC.
