SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Former Trinity Tigers baseball standout Ben Klimesh made an appearance for the Eastern Division in the Midwest League All-Star Game in Dayton, Ohio. Recap
Klimesh's Eastern Division squad earned a 6-5 victory in the Class A All-Star Game, which was played Wednesday evening at the Fifth Third Field in Dayton.
Klimesh, a member of the Dayton Dragons, was credited with a hold for his third of an inning of work.
Klimesh has pitched in 19 games this season, with a spotless 3-0 record and a 3.18 ERA. The 6-foot-4 right-hander has also recorded four saves for the Dragons, a Class A farm club of the Cincinnati Reds.
He was selected by the Reds organization in the 15th round of the 2012 Major League Draft.
During the 2012 Trinity season, Klimesh, who hails from Wilmette, Ill., broke several school and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference records in leading the Tigers to an SCAC title and a third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Playoffs. He became Trinity's record-holder in single-season and career strikeouts, as well as single-season and career victories.
Klimesh also became the SCAC's strikeout king for both single season and a career, and his numbers also ranked him in the top-10 in NCAA history for strikeouts.
During the 2012 Tigers season, Klimesh posted a 13-3 record, with a 1.71 ERA over 17 games. He recorded two shutouts and nine complete games for Trinity. Klimesh fanned 154 batters and walked just 40 for the year. He was elected the SCAC Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season.
