SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity's Ruth Hahn and Ashley Heline finished first and second on the 3-meter board at the NCAA Region 2 Diving Championships on Friday afternoon, qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

The NCAA Regional Diving Championships are being held across the country for the first time ever. Each regional will qualify divers for nationals, based on the number of competing student-athletes at each site. The Region 2 Meet hosted by Trinity will qualify four women's divers.

Hahn, the defending NCAA Division III National Champion in 3-meter Diving, won the event with a score of 464.75. Heline finished with a score of 453.25 to finish second. Carmen Lundell of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges was third, and joined Hahn and Heline as the only divers to score better than 400 points in today's competition.

All three divers held the lead at various points over the event's 11 dives, but the Tiger duo pulled away over the last several dives to qualify.

Trinity's Katie Sheldon was sixth with a score of 396.45, while Madison Kahler scored 375.35 points for the Tigers to finish ninth.

All of the divers will compete in the 1-meter competition tomorrow, beginning at 12 p.m. Two more spots at the NCAA Championships will be on the line.
