SCAC Has Five Honored as 2012-2013 WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) had five  individuals recognized as 2012-2013 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars. A total of 644 women's collegiate golfers from Divisions I, II and III were recognized with this prestigious honor Complete Release

Trinity University was represented by four student-athletes on the squad - which tied for the most from any one Division III institution. Alessa Hutter, Brigette Lee, Molly McCarthy and Molly Zumbro represented Trinity as All-American Scholars with McCarthy and Zumbro earning slots on the prestigious team for the second consecutive year. Southwestern University's Karissa Speck also earned a place on the team and, like McCarthy and Zumbro, is a two-time honoree.

Speck tied for 15th place overall at the 2013 NCAA National Championships where the Southwestern women came in seventh in the nation. 

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative grade point average is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
