SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity University, which has won three of the past five Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball championships, enters the 2013 season as the 11th ranked team in the D3baseball.com preseason poll, the website announced.

Trinity totaled 360 points in the poll and was just one point back of 10th-ranked Webster (Mo.). The Tigers, who advanced to the NCAA Division III West Regional championship game in 2012, finished last year with a 37-12 record.

The 30-win season marked the third straight for Trinity and was the program's 12th 30-win season since the Tigers joined the SCAC in the 1989-90 academic year.

Last week, D3baseball.com named Trinity senior left-handed pitcher Ryan Lucero a presason All-Amercan. Lucero was named a Second Team All-American by D3Baseball.com at the end of last season, as well as earning All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and All-West Region honors.  He missed the end of the season - including the NCAA Playoffs - due to injury, but is back for his senior season in 2013.

Lucero led Trinity with an 8-0 record and a 1.57 ERA last year, tallying 74 strikeouts in 68.2 innings pitched for the Tigers.  He also recorded a pair of shutouts, walked just 15 batters, and held opponents to a batting average if just .172 during the season.

Trinity opens the 2013 season Jan. 31-Feb. 2 with a three game-set at Chapman (Calif.).
