Colorado College's Kaleb Roush Receives Goldwater Scholarship

SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Colorado College junior swimmer Kaleb Roush, a biochemistry major from Fort Collins, Colo., has been awarded a Goldwater Scholarship. Roush plans to earn a Ph.D. in biochemistry, then conduct research in a biomedical field and teach in academia or work in industry. Roush's current research interests revolve around immunology and virology. This summer he will be exploring these fields through an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) at the University of Rochester in New York.

This year's 271 Goldwater Scholars were selected on the basis of academic merit from a field of 1,107 mathematics, science, and engineering students who were nominated by the faculties of colleges and universities nationwide. Virtually all intend to obtain a Ph.D., and the scholarships will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 per year.
