AROUND THE SCAC

Austin College dropped a 31-10 decision to Sewanee on Saturday. The Kangaroos trailed 14-0 before PJ Fuller’s 37-yard touchdown reception cut Sewanee’s lead in half at 14-7. From there, the Tigers scored 17 unanswered points for the win. Leading Austin College was Fuller who finished the day with two catches for 52 yards. Sean Sweeney added 87 yards rushing on 22 attempts.

Trinity lost its second consecutive game on Saturday, falling to #2 Mary Hardin-Baylor 49-28, and dropping its record to 2-2 this season. The loss is Trinity’s first regular season home loss since 2010, and the first regular season loss in the series against UMHB. The Tigers fell behind 21-0 after the first quarter, as the offense had a turnover on downs and a fumble in its first two possessions, and the defense gave up two drives over 65 yards. Trinity got on the board early in the second with its own touchdown, cutting the lead to 21-7, but the Tigers would get no closer the rest of the way. Trinity did get its first interception return for a touchdown since the season opener against Howard Payne last season. The Tigers will host Rhodes this week, which will be the 30th meeting in that series. Trinity holds a 17-12 edge in the series, with 16 of those wins coming in the last 19 meetings. The Tigers won 62-7 in Memphis last season.
