Trinity and Dallas were locked in a scoreless tie for most of the contest, though Trinity held a 19-3 edge in shots taken. The Tigers improved to 14-1-2 with the victory, which was the team's third win this season over the Crusaders, who fall to 12-8-1 on the year.

The two teams combined for just seven shots - six by Trinity - in the first half of play, despite the fact that the two teams combined to score 11 goals in their respective SCAC Semifinal matchups on Saturday.

Dallas got the early momentum with a pair of shots early in the second half, but neither was on target. In the 62nd minute, Trinity was awarded a penalty kick in the aftermath of a corner kick. It marked the third time in the SCAC Tournament that a Tiger player was fouled in the box, and Trinity converted both PK's against Austin College yesterday.

This game was a different story, though, as Trinity's leading scorer Shelby Guenthardt could not convert. Dallas goalkeeper Brigid Hasson made the save on the PK, keeping the game locked 0-0. The Tigers then had six shots in the next 10+ minutes of action - including one shot off the crossbar, and two others that were saved by Hasson.

At the 76:00 mark, though, Trinity finally broke through with a goal as Guenthardt redeemed herself from the earlier miss. She netted her 18th goal of the season, assisted by defender Jennifer White.

Guenthardt was named the SCAC Women's Soccer Tournament Offensive MVP for her efforts, as she also had two goals and an assist in yesterday's game.

University of Dallas junior goalkeeper Brigid Hasson, who had eight saves including one off a Trinity PK, was named the Tournament's Defensive MVP. She had five saves in Saturday evening's shutout of Southwestern University.

Trinity has now won four consecutive SCAC Championships, beginning in 2009. The Tigers have won each of the past two SCAC Tournaments to win the conference title. With the victory, Trinity also earns the SCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs. The brackets for the postseason tournament will be released on Monday afternoon.

After the game, SCAC Correspondent Brice Bender caught up with coaches from both sides, along with both of the tournament MVPs.
