LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - In exclusive voting by the head coaches in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), Trinity University was voted the preseason favorite to win the 2013 SCAC baseball championship.
Head coach Tim Scannell’s Tigers received three of the
five coaches’ first-place votes followed by Centenary College
with the remaining two votes.
Trinity, who is ranked in the preseason D3baseball.com poll at No.
11, earned an at-large bid and the program's seventh
appearance in the NCAA Division III regionals last season. The
Tigers posted a 37-12 record and the SCAC West Division title in
2012 while securing the program's 10th 30-win season since
2000.
Trinity garnered three first-place votes (23 total points) and is
favored to win the SCAC championship. Centenary, in its first year
in the SCAC, was voted a very close second (20 points) followed by
the University of Dallas (15 points). Southwestern University (12
points) and Austin College (5 points) complete the SCAC preseason
rankings.
