Colorado College Earns NCAA Men's Lacrosse At-Large Bid

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Colorado College, the 2013 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse champions, earned an at-large bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship, the NCAA announced tonight. Printable Bracket | Interactive Bracket

The Tigers improved to 13-4 on the season with yesterday's 14-7 win over rival Whittier in the Locker-Stabler Cup game and earned one of five Pool B (at-large) bids to the field of 29 teams. This will mark Colorado College's second appearance in the NCAA playoffs as the Tigers first appeared in the NCAA playoffs in 2011.

Colorado College's NCAA bid also marks the SCAC's third NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship appearance since the league started sponsoring men's lacrosse in 2010.

Colorado College drew first round host and 10th-ranked Washington College (Md.). The Shoremen, with a record of 12-4, earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament after falling 14-7 to Dickinson in the Centennial Conference tournament semifinals.

The winner of the Colorado College/Washington (Md.) matchup will advance to the second round where the Tigers or Shoremen will meet the winner of the Stevenson University (Md.)/Christopher Newport University (Va.) first round contest.

The Mustangs (17-2) , the automatic qualifier out of the Commonwealth Conference and the fourth-ranked team in the nation, will host Christopher Newport (8-8). The Captains, like Colorado College, earned a Pool B at-large bid.

First round matchups begin May 8 followed by the second round on Saturday, May 11. The quarterfinals start Wednesday, May 15 with the semifinals beginning on Sunday, May 19. The championship game will be played Sunday, May 26 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Colorado College drew first round host and eighth-ranked Roanoke College (Va.). The Maroons, with a record of 14-3, earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's automatic bid into the NCAA field. Roanoke finished the regular season with a perfect 7-0 mark in a very tough ODAC.

The winner of the Colorado College/Roanoke matchup will advance to the second round where the Tigers or Maroons will meet the winner of the Gettysburg College (Pa.)/University of Scranton (Pa.) first round contest.

The Bullets (11-6) , runner up in the Centennial Conference and the 13th-ranked team in the nation, will host Scranton (9-7). The Royals won the Landmark Conference championship and automatic NCAA bid.

Colorado College, along with RIT (17-0), are the only two teams in the field of 26 that finished the regular season with an undefeated record.

First round matchups begin May 11 followed by the second round on Sunday, May 14. The quarterfinals start Wednesday, May 18 with the semifinals beginning on Sunday, May 22. The championship game will be played Sunday, May 29 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
