INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference champion Trinity University earned the league's
automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship
field of 56 teams.

A total of 56 teams will compete in eight double-elimination regionals and the winners of those eight regionals will qualify for the double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis., May 24-28.
Trinity (36-7) earned the No. 5 seed in the West regional. The West regional includes No. 1 Linfield (34-6) vs. No. 6 Texas Lutheran (33-12), No. 2 California Lutheran (34-7-1) vs. No. 5 Trinity and No. 3 Texas-Tyler (35-10) vs. No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer (29-14).
Trinity will make its fourth straight appearance in NCAA postseason play and the school's eighth all-time. The Tigers also appeared in the NCAA regionals in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010-2013. With Trinity's first game, the Tigers will play in an SCAC record 27th NCAA tournament game. Trinity has a 12-14 record in NCAA regional play.
Trinity tallied a 2-0 record against teams in the West regional.
The Tigers defeated No. 6 seed Texas Lutheran 8-6 at home on March
12th and then beat the Bulldogs on the road 3-2, on April
16th.
Four of the eight regionals feature six teams in a double-elimination format. Those four regionals include the West (Austin, Texas), South (Millington, Tenn.), Central (Moline, Ill.), and Midwest (Whitewater, Wis.).
The remaining four regionals feature eight-team regionals and are the New England (Harwich, Mass.), New York (Auburn, N.Y.), Mid-Atlantic (Moosic, Pa.), and Mideast (Terre Haute, Ind.) regionals.
