Defending SCAC champion Colorado College headlined the SCAC's selections as the Tigers enter the 2012 season ranked 14th in the nation. Colorado College finished last season with a 33-7 record.

Southwestern University, which finished 30-4 last season, will begin the season ranked in a tie for 19th with Concordia (Minn.). The Pirates finished in third place at the 2011 SCAC championship tournament.

Last year's SCAC runners-up, the Trinity University Tigers enter the 2012 campaign ranked 24th after finishing last year with a 22-16 record.

Finally, Austin College begins the season receiving votes and did not crack the top-25. However, the Kangaroos are just outside the top-30 in the preseason rankings checking in at 34th.
