Johnson was outstanding over the holiday break in helping the Celts extend their winning streak to five and improve to a perfect 2-0 in league play after securing a road win at Colorado College last Saturday and knocking off UC Santa Cruz on Sunday. In two games, Johnson averaged 24.0 points on 46.7 percent shooting, including a red hot 50.0 precent from three-point range and added 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. In the win over the Tigers, Johnson poured in a career-high 30 points, connecting on 8-for-15 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds, dished out two assists and created two steals.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard Price Bradley of Austin College had a big week in two games, averaging 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals-per-game as the 'Roos went 1-1. Bradley scored 16 points and dished out four assists as the 'Roos notched their first conference win of the year at home against Dallas, after scoring 19 on the road at Howard Payne. Senior guard Craig Collier of Centenary poured in a career-high 31 points on 12-of-20 shooting in leading the Gents to a key SCAC win on the road at Ozarks last Friday night, highlighted by his three-point play, hitting a layup with 14 seconds left and converting on the free throw to deliver a 69-68 win. Collier also added three rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Devin Philio of Colorado College had an excellent outing on Saturday in a tight loss to St. Thomas. The Colorado native was just two points shy of his career-high as he finished the game with 20 points, a season-high 12 rebounds, two steals and a block. It's his second-straight double-double and second-consecutive 20-point performance. Senior wing Justice Marmara of Ozarks had two more big performances for the Eagles averaging 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds during a 1-1 week. Marmara scored 19 points behind a 3-of-4 performance from the three-point line in a blowout win against Hendrix College. Marmara posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds against Centenary College. Over two games, he shot 54 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free throw line. Graduate guard Beau Cervantes of Schreiner was outstanding, leading the Mountaineers to a big SCAC win over Trinity with 31 points, two rebounds and one assist. It marked the second time this season Cervantes has reached the 30-point plateau this year. Sophomore forward Luke Mills of Southwestern averaged 10.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game last week, highlighted by his 12-point five rebound performance in the Pirates’ 66-52 SCAC win over TLU last Saturday. Senior guard Xavier Phillips of Texas Lutheran made his return to the lineup after missing the start of the season due to injury and averaged 13.5 points on 43.5 percent shooting to go along with three rebounds and two assists per game. Phillips poured in 18 points against Southwestern on Saturday, brining him just seven points shy of 1,000 career points. Senior guard Jacob Harvey of Trinity led the Tigers to a 1-1 record over the holiday break, suffering a narrow loss to Schreiner on New Year's Eve and then blowing out Rochester to open the 2025 calendar year. Harvey averaged 17.0 points/game and 5.5 assists/game in the two games, shooting 10-for-23 (43.5%) from the field and 9-for-19 (47.4%) from three-point range. He flirted with a triple-double against Rochester with 22 points, six rebounds, and a career-high eight assists. In that game, Harvey shot 6-for-10 from the field, 5-of-8 from distance, and all five of his free throw attempts.
