St. Thomas Men's Basketball Concludes Season at NCAA Round of 64

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- In the electrifying opening game of the Men's Basketball NCAA Round of 64, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags faced off against the St. Thomas (Tex.) Celts on March 1, 2024. The Claremont-M-S Stags emerged victorious with a final score of 78-71.

Throughout the game, Claremont-M-S's Josh Angle showcased his scoring prowess, tallying 30 points. His sharpshooting from beyond the arc, going 6-of-9 from three-point range, proved pivotal in securing the win for the Stags. Caelan Jones also made contributions with 20 points, complementing Angle's performance.

St. Thomas (Tex.) put up a valiant effort, led by standout performances from Nick Anderson and Calvin Williams IV. Anderson led the Celts in scoring with 30 points, displaying his ability to score from long range, connecting on 4 of 11 three-point attempts. Williams IV added 15 points, contributing to the team's offensive effort.

Despite the Celts' resilience, Claremont-M-S's balanced scoring and efficient shooting ultimately secured their victory. With this loss, St. Thomas is eliminated from the NCAA Men's Basketball Championships and will look forward to the 24-25 season tipping off this Winter.
