Aleman set a new St. Thomas record, scoring five goals, including the game-winner in an 8-1 win over Centenary last Friday night. He is just the fifth player in SCAC history to score five or more goals in a single contest and just the second to do so in an SCAC match. Aleman scored twice in the first half and then capped off his historic night with three goals in the second half. The senior now leads the SCAC with 16 goals on the year. His effort lifted St. Thomas to 4-2 in the SCAC, currently tied for fourth in the league table going into the final weekend of the regular season.
Junior forward Louis Catchpole of Austin College continued his torrid scoring this season with a pair of goals over the weekend, tallying twice against Texas Lutheran to bring him to 14 goals and 30 total points on the year. Senior defender Alexander Ward of Colorado College scored the only goal of the game and led all players with four shots in a 1-0 victory of Schreiner to secure at least a share of the SCAC regular season title. Ward also added three shots in CC’s 3-2 victory of Trinity on Friday. Senior midfielder Ashton Bynum of Southwestern scored three goals in a pair of key SCAC wins for the Pirates last weekend. On Friday, Bynum scored twice in a 6-1 win over Dallas and then returned Sunday to put away the insurance marker in a 2-0 victory over Austin College. Junior defender Jack Manke of Texas Lutheran scored three goals in two wins last weekend, including a brace against Dallas. Manke now has nine goals on the year, tied for the fourth most in the SCAC.
