SOPHIA SANCHEZ OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 4)
Sanchez led the team with an impressive time of 19:40.24, earning a 14th-place finish in a field of 63 runners, in the women's 5k race at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Annette Smith of Trinity led the Tiger women to a win last Friday at the team's dual meet against Texas Lutheran, winning the individual title as well. She completed the 5k course in 20:05, overcoming the hot and humid conditions. Smith's first-place finish helped secure the team win, accumulating a near-perfect score of 16 points.
