Anderson paced the Celts to a 2-1 west coast swing last week, including impressive victories over Lewis & Clark and Pacific. The junior averaged 15.3 points on 63.6 percent shooting, highlighted by a career-high 21 points in a tough loss to George Fox. He shot over 60 percent in all three games, including a 66.7 percent effort in his career-high performance against the Bruins. Anderson also added 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game en route to being named to the Ken Schumann Classic All-Tournament Team.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Jarrell Taylor of Centenary had an outstanding week for the Gents, averaging 14.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in three impressive performances, highlighted by a 24-point, 13 rebound double-double in a win over Millsaps. Taylor shot a superb 53.1 percent on the week from the field. Senior guard Scott Cunningham of Colorado College scored a career-high 17 points, but the Tigers came out on the wrong on end of a 101-69 result against California Lutheran last Saturday night. Cunningham started the three-game road trip by matching his season high of 14 points against Whittier College. Senior guard Alex Dehoyos of Schreiner led the Mountaineers to an impressive 81-76 victory over Sul Ross St. last week pouring in 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Dehoyos also dished out eight assists, grabbed four rebounds and was responsible to two steals. The win marked the fourth-straight contest Dehoyos scored 20 or more points. Senior guard Kyle Poerschke of Southwestern scored a career-high 33 points on 13-for-18 shooting against Concordia to go with seven rebounds. For the weekend, he averaged 16 points per game on 66.7 percent shooting with 6.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Senior guard AJ Clark of Trinity was instrumental in another pair of victories over in-region opponents last weekend in the Tigers' visit to Georgetown, Texas. The San Antonio-native posted a season-high of 15 points in Trinity's landslide victory over Texas-Dallas, 95-62, and led the Tigers in rebounding in both matchups averaging 7.5 boards per contest. Clark also collected eight assists over his 44 minutes of action while pushing Trinity to a 52.8 percent shooting rate from the floor, 47.6 percent from beyond the arc, for the weekend.
