HAMILTON ESTRADA OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior midfielder from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, September 19th through Sunday, September 25th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 4)
Estrada led the Celt defense to a pair of wins, including a 5-0 shutout against Hardin-Simmons and a 2-1 victory of Texas Lutheran. He played all 180 minutes and limited opponents to just 11 total shots on goal in the two wins. Estrada also jumped in offensively, registering an assist in the win over Hardin-Simmons. The Celts now have three clean sheets on the year and are the lone unbeaten team remain the lone unbeaten team in the SCAC with a 7-0-1 record heading into the opening weekend of conference play.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman goalkeeper Jasper Broad of Colorado College continued his strong start to his rookie campaign, helping the Tigers to a 1-0-1 record in a pair of games in Minnesota last weekend. He secured six saves last week, more than doubling his total on the season and his 1.50 goals-against average in currently sixth in the SCAC. Sophomore defender Noah Harris of Texas Lutheran played a major role in helping the team achieve two wins with a huge defensive performance on the backline. His ability to win balls in the air lead to the clean sheet in a 4-0 win over the road over Hardin-Simmons. Senior defender JonConnor Rule of Trinity played a huge part in shutting out Concordia in last Sunday’s 3-0 win. Rule played all 180 minutes during the weekend’s matches.
