Junior pitcher Alexus Johnson of Austin College earned a victory in her first career game for the ‘Roos, throwing a complete game in a 9-4 win over Hendrix. Johnson allowed zero earned runs on five hits and three strikeouts in the win. Senior pitcher Ashlyn Strother of Texas Lutheran went 2-0 in the circle last week to lead the Bulldogs to an opening season sweep against Div. II St. Mary’s. Stroher picked up the win in relief in game one, got the start in game two, finishing the series with five strikeouts in six innings pitched, scattering just seven hits and allowing two earned runs. Sophomore pitcher Jordan Arce of Trinity led the Tigers to an extra-inning win in the 2024 season opener at Concordia on Sunday afternoon. Arce (1-0) threw 8.0 innings in the nine-inning win for the Tigers, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out 10 batters in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader. For the weekend, she held a 4.67 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 9.0 innings of work.
