CHARLES WALLACE OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a first-year swimmer from Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Monday, November 27 to Sunday, December 3. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 7)
Wallace made a splash for the Celts in Friday's dual meet against Southwestern. Wallace won all three of his individual events (200 free, 100 back, 50 fly) including lowering his personal best in the 200 free to 1:53.02. His winning times in the the 50 fly and 100 back were 24.49 and 59.01, respectively.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Kamil Murugan of Austin College had three very solid swims against McMurry on Saturday, competing in three of the first four events. Murugan anchored the 200 medley relay with a 22.58 freestyle then swam his first career 1000 free with a time of 11:25.17. Ten minutes later, he competed and won the 100 back, touching first in a time of 1:00.65. Sophomore Jorge Mendiola of Southwestern recorded a first-place finish in the 50 free (23.15) and a second-place finish in the 100 free (51.77) in this weekend's dual meet home victory against St. Thomas. The sophomore also split 23.4 as part of the second-place finishing 200 free relay squad.
