Carmen Lozada, University of St. Thomas, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 2)

CARMEN LOZADA OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a sophomore goalkeeper from Katy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 7th.

Lozada was huge in net as the Celts secured their first SCAC win of the year, defeating Schreiner, 1-0, at home last Saturday. She recorded seven saves and was relied on heavily as St. Thomas played the final ten minutes of the contest with just 10 men following a red card in the 80th minute.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalkeeper Meredith Harris of Austin College made six saves and did not allow a goal in 45 minutes of action in a loss to Centenary last weekend. Senior goalkeeper Maggie Pitcher of Centenary posted her 10th career shutout in the Ladies’ 1-0 victory over Austin College last weekend. Pitcher recorded three saves in the win. Freshman goalkeeper Johnna Campbell of Southwestern recorded 10 saves in a 4-2 loss to Trinity last Sunday. Sophomore defender Bailey Meyer of Trinity was the lone Tiger to play all 90 minutes in a 4-2 win over Southwestern last weekend. Meyer anchored a defense that allowed just five shots to the Pirates in the game.
