Williams led the Celts to a pair of wins last weekend, topping Centenary on the road, 54-50, before returning home to knock off Colorado College, 87-52. He recorded back-to-back double-digit scoring performances, highlighted by his career-high 26-points, three rebounds and two steals in the win over the Gents. Williams averaged 22.0 points on 18-of-29 shooting and added 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in last weekend’s contests. After a perfect weekend of SCAC play the Celts sit at 8-0 in the conference standings, 15-2 overall.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Seth Thomas of Centenary was a force in the loss against St. Thomas with 22 points and then poured in 26 in the win against Colorado College. Thomas averaged 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Sophomore forward Braxton Barry of Trinity was dominant last weekend in the Tigers win over Texas Lutheran. Barry dropped a career-high 14 points and added 16 rebounds and two blocks against the Bulldogs. Sophomore guard Beau Cervantes of Schreiner University averaged 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steal over both games last week. Senior guard Tristan Dick of Austin College made his presence known with 18 points, nine rebounds and four steals in a win over Arlington Baptist. Dick was 70 percent from the field (7.0-for-10.0) and 100 percent from the stripe (4.0-for-4.0) in the win. Freshman guard LaDarius King of Texas Lutheran put up double-figures in both contests last week for the Bulldogs, scoring 10 in a loss to Trinity before returning with 16 in a key win over Schreiner. King averaged 2.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.5 steals last weekend. Sophomore guard Scott Ruegg of Colorado College averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in a pair of games last week for the Tigers.
